The Heart of Cultural Festivals,
Arts and Events in Leicester

Founded in 2011 by Director Amanda Leandro, Cosmopolitan Arts is a community interest
company CIC based in Leicester dedicated to celebrating cultural diversity through the arts.

At the heart of our organisation is a commitment to engaging people from all backgrounds, particularly those who may not usually access the arts. We aim to create high-quality, participatory arts experiences that inspire, challenge perceptions, and create community cohesion across cultural and social boundaries.

Cosmopolitan Arts Launches Christmas Toy Appeal

Cosmopolitan Arts is excited to launch its Christmas Toy Appeal!  We are collecting toys to gift to the young people we work with. This is a way of bringing joy and happiness to them, along with rewarding them for their hard work throughout the year. We are looking for a mixture of girls’ and boys’ toys in two age categories of 8-12 years old and 12+.

These could be:

  • Board Games
  • Books
  • Chocolate Selection Boxes
  • Arts & Crafts (Colouring Books, Paint by Numbers Sets, Notebooks)
  • Stocking Fillers

If you would like to donate, please drop off your items at the Cosmopolitan Arts Centre, Parkside House, 72 Friday Street, LE1 3BW.

Our drop-off times are as follows:

  • Monday, Thursday & Friday: 10am – 3pm.
  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 7:30pm

If we are not in, donations can be dropped off with our neighbours 777 Automotive Limited.

Introducing 'Through My Eyes'

Cosmopolitan Arts is proud to present, in collaboration with research consultants and topic experts from University College London (UCL) and De Montfort University (DMU), ‘Through My Eyes’. This project explores the nighttime routine of six culturally diverse families.

The work was developed and created in close collaboration with research and topic experts, Professor Monica Lakhanpaul and Dr Nadia Svirydzenka (UCL/DMU).

As well as producing in-depth research, Cosmopolitan Arts worked with Leicester’s Poet Laureate, Akshay Sharma and filmmaker Keith Allot to create this immersive video which utilises spoken word and dance to convey these experiences of young people involved in this project.
